Visiting Mount Etna

Although we went to see Taormina and took a good look around Catania where we had accommodation, the main reason to go to Sicily was to visit Mount Etna. Seeing an active volcano and the volcanic environment around had been a goal for years and the trip did not disappoint.

Thanks to the fertile soil in the area, there is lush nature and flourishing agriculture all around and the fact that we arrived in autumn made the vivid seasonal colours absolutely spectacular. There is an otherworldly feel to this world beneath the volcano, which I hope I captured successfully in my photos. Please enjoy having a look below and if you want to see the images in a larger display size and the rest of the collection with Catania and Taormina included, click on the link HERE.
